Blood Piñata, 2019

Blood Piñata expresses problems in the forms people may label identity in society. Through my performance, I encourage inclusivity and social equality with the visualization of our insides being the same.

Written message pulled out of blood piñata: “There is no gender, there is no race, there is no judgment in this space”...

I highlight judgment based on color and social constructs to serve as a reminder that the elimination of visual differences leaves blood.

And yet, although we all bleed… there IS gender and there IS race, as we cannot eliminate our visual distinctions nor should we. Representation is important to remind us of our differences. Judgment and hatred will exist regardless. But for a moment, I just wanted to bleed.
