Next Up
“The Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island and the Patchogue Arts Council presents Next Up July 1 through July 11, 2021.
Next Up features the work of five young emerging artists who have worked with the museum in past years as interns, assistants, and volunteers.
In their collected works there is a sense of the ominous. Coming of age in this time of pandemic and political divisiveness their generation of artists seems to have lost the optimism of previous generations.
Isabella Fernanda is a multimedia artist working in two and three dimensions, video and performance, who questions individual boundaries and levels of comfort in a world that is increasingly intrusive into personal privacy. Through performance, she exposes herself to vulnerability and the ambivalent nature of self-disclosure. Her videos, sculptures, and paintings exist as both documentation of her performances and as stand-alone works of art.
While each artist reacts in a unique way to the current psyche of our times there is also a resiliency within them that presages a career to be reckoned with.” - Patchogue Arts Council.
